Lianne La Havas: Elusive and Gone (A Two Part Film)

Lianne La Havas- Elusive and Gone

Lianne La Havas needs no introduction.

After seeing the UK artist perform live last month and meeting her, I am truly crushing on this girl.

Her voice. Her album. Her personality. Her guitar skills. Her sheer talent.
I could go on forever. But you really should know how I feel about her now after her live performance for the Sydney Festival.

Just like Ta-ku inspires me with his beats and creations, La Havas inspires me with her voice and the stories she tells through her songs and lyrics. Both artists have the ability to evoke emotions and narratives within.

Lianne La Havas - Elusive and Gone (A Two Part Film)

Now, La Havas has released a two-part short film, dropping two new videos this week which shows an interlinking visual story between her tracks, ‘Elusive’ and ‘Gone’.

“Dear friends new and old!

It’s Lianne here sending you a special note to announce the release of my two latest videos. A two part visual story to represent the songs ‘Elusive’ and ‘Gone’ respectively.
These videos were life-altering to make and everybody involved seemed to share this feeling. Written and directed by my dear friend Colin Solal Cardo from the team at La Blogotheque, these videos were certainly made with love.
Our boundaries were pushed and I’ve learned a number [of] new skills as a result, such as improvisational contemporary dance and free-diving!
Thank you for the continued support and thank you to everyone that made it possible to make this art.
I don’t want to say too much before you’ve seen the videos but I will just say, quite simply, I hope you enjoy them.

Love Lianne from Studio Ferber á Paris x”

It’s simply stunning when you watch the two videos, one after the other.

Start with ‘Elusive’:

‘Elusive’ illustrates the happier times of a relationship, the honeymoon phase of getting to know someone, and then falling in love..

“He’s elusive and I’m awake
Defiantly real, there’s nothing fake
A mystery now to me and you
Open my eyes and I’m next to you
He says my destiny
Lies in the hands that set me free”

Then, move on to ‘Gone’:

‘Gone’ is such a final song. The end of a relationship. You don’t have to watch the video to get that message. Just listen to the lyrics.

“Love is not blind, it’s just deaf and it is dumb
So how could I fool myself thinking you were the one
How sad, how undignified
Now I found you out
This is my last goodbye
‘Cause it used to be my life and soul
Keeping everything in tune
What the heck man?
Last time I checked man
We had it all
It was just me and you
So what happened to you
Thought I knew you
No more chances
I’m gone, gone, gone
Don’t wait for me
I’ll be gone
‘Cause when I waited for you
There was no show
Made myself believe the untrue
How could I not know”

I love both songs and I love the videos. Gorgeous songwriting and visuals. Love love love. <3
