I’ve been finding it really hard to keep up with Ta-ku lately.
His output is constant, constant, constant these days and I know that there are a quite a few tracks out there that he has released recently, that I have not had the chance to review. But that’s my bad – mainly due to the lack of time that I have, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t heard the music that he’s managed to create, upload and share with the rest of the world.
This week, he released his take on Daughter‘s ‘Lost’, and the result is simply heartbreaking. That’s honestly the only word I can think of that is fitting enough to describe the track.
The arrangement on this remix has been really thought out. I love that the remix hasn’t taken away the arrangement from the original song itself, and yet with Ta-ku’s production on top of an already beautiful track, he has managed to make it his own.
Layer upon layer, as the song went on, the emotions kept pouring through. There are so many tracks that Ta-ku’s released that has evoked my emotions, and this track is no exception.
Listen to ‘Love Lost’ with your eyes closed and tell me what you feel.
Still don’t understand the hype surrounding the Perth producer? Check out an interview that Ta-ku did for Soundcloud below.
“The SoundCloud Community Team asked me to record some answers regarding my “50 Days For DIlla” & “25 Nights for Nujabes” projects as part of an upcoming project to hear and share more stories from the SoundCloud community.” – Ta-ku.
The content within this interview is downright honest, raw, humbling, inspiring, and passionate all at the same time. How many times can you say that you’ve heard that in an interview before? His dedication as a producer of going into the lab to create something every day is really motivating and inspiring.
I’m still an avid fan of the 25 Nights For Nujabes project, often going back to Soundcloud and listening to the entire set. I am counting down for its official release on digital, vinyl and CD next month! Finally.
This interview showcases one of the many reasons why Ta-ku is such a respected artist in the music industry.
