Hosted by Mirvac and Landcom and held at The Social Corner in Green Square, the Green Square Summer Festival is an exciting range of events which include a number of cooking/ food workshops with some fun twists for the after-hours. 😉
Running until the end of February 2018, such adult workshops include:
> Sweets & Sauvignon Blanc: Cake decorating with a tipsy twist
> DIY Dumplings
> Watercolour & Wine
> Know Your Gnocchi: Pasta making for beginners
We were invited to attend the “Sweets & Sauvignon Blanc: Cake Decorating with a Tipsy Twist” workshop on Wednesday night and it definitely brought a tipsy element to the table with lots of different wines on offer that evening!
Learning cooking tips and tricks from Buster Brown, the talented head pastry chef at Luxe Bakery, attendees of the workshop were shown and given recipes to make a sponge cake with buttercream and chocolate ganache. As a cooking novice, I sat down and quickly realised that perhaps this workshop was not the best one for me to attend as the content was completely lost on me!
BUT as I soon found out, it was revealed that I wasn’t the only one in the room who hardly knew anything about baking. Phew!
Moving on.. After Brown showed us all the different ways we could decorate a sponge cake, the tables were turned and we were invited up to decorate our own mini sponge cakes! Personally, I just wanted to eat the cake but decorating turned out to be quite an enjoyable experience. The continuous “top-up” of our wine glasses on the night definitely broke the ice amongst the group and had our imaginations running wild! 😉
We would definitely recommend checking out the social calendar to see what other workshops Green Square Summer Festival will be hosting!
