We Are Kindred’s Resort ’20 Collection Paired Bohemian and Party Together

Sydney-based sister duo and co-founders Elizabeth and Georgie Renkert of We Are Kindred, presented their Resort 20 collection, ‘Bohome Heart’ earlier today at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia.

Unveiling flowing silhouettes in a fresh colour palette of denim blues, honey gold, midnight black and some natural fibres of linens and cotton, ‘Bohome Heart’ was an eclectic mix of prints, textures and metallics that evoke undertones of vintage interior furnishings.

Established in 2013 by sisters, best friends, and kindreds, Lizzie and Georgie Renkert, We Are Kindred has quickly evolved into one of Australia’s most successful emerging labels, noted for its offering of effortless, modern luxury with a twist of bohemia.

Their Resort ’20 collection, Boheme Heart is said to be inspired by carefree summer days and celebrates the femininity and sensuality of women with a distinctly bohemian feel.

Key highlights included Victoria Secret model Alannah Walton opening up the show and an interesting tidbit of Georgie’s husband, musician Jake Meadows composing an original soundtrack for the show with an eclectic and beautiful mix of vocal, harp and beats which complemented what the duo hoped the collection represented – “a little bit bohemian and a little bit party.”

I didn’t quite get the party vibe they were going for through their pieces, and whether or not I would wear their designs to a party is another question. Hmm… let me get back to you on that.

Personally, I’ve never been one to jump on the bohemian bandwagon so I wasn’t very interested from the start, but it was nice to see the models have a bit of fun during the show, adding some playfulness to the runway – wait, was that supposed to be the fun, party part?
